Your first Sunday, sorted

We saved you a seat

Sundays 9:00 & 11:00 · 14 Chapel Lane, Meridian Hill

What to expect

An unhurried hour,
start to finish

Old buildings can feel like they come with rules. Ours come to this: sit anywhere, sing if you like, and let us worry about the rest. Here's the whole morning.

Arrive when you can

Doors open thirty minutes early. A greeter at the red door will hand you everything you need — one sheet of paper, no apps.

Wear whatever you own

You'll see suits next to hiking boots in the same pew. The stone has seen a hundred and fifty years of fashion; nothing surprises it.

Worship, about 75 minutes

Songs, scripture, a short sermon, and communion. Everything is printed and announced — you will never be the only one sitting or standing.

Stay for coffee — or don't

Coffee and something baked in the parish hall afterward. Nobody will corner you, ask you to stand up, or put you on a mailing list.

Service times

Choose your hour

Sunday · traditional

9:00 am

Choir, organ, candles, quiet. The service our great-grandparents would recognize. Nursery available; no kids' church at this hour.

Sunday · with kids' church

11:00 am

Same liturgy, modern music, full children's program from nursery to grade 5. The best hour for first-time families.

Wednesday · compline

7:00 pm

Twenty minutes of sung night prayer by candlelight. Come straight from work; leave in a different frame of mind.

On the hill,
behind the oaks

Look for the bell tower above the treeline — the red door at the top of the gravel path is the one you want.

Kids & nursery

Small people,
big welcome

Wiggly kids are a sign of a living parish — nobody will shush yours. If they'd enjoy their own space, here's how Sunday works for them at the 11:00 service:

Nursery · birth to 3

Staffed by background-checked volunteers, two per room, every service. Pager system so you're one buzz away.

Kids' church · age 4 to grade 5

Children start in the service with you, then follow the banner out after the second song — stories, craft, and a snack until communion.

Check-in · five minutes

First visit? Arrive ten minutes early and Rev. Ruth's team will walk you through it. Name tags for kids, matching tag for you.

The children's room: low wooden tables, sage-green chairs, and an arched window
